Sustainable production and environmentally friendly energy generation
"For me, sustainability means a holistic balance between the core business issues of quality, economic success, as well as social, ethical and environmental responsibility."
owner of Karl Pedross AG
The concept of sustainability has been deeply rooted in the corporate DNA of KARL PEDROSS AG since its early years and active climate protection has always been an important part of our corporate philosophy. Every decision to improve production processes is based on both economic and environmental aspects.
Renewable raw materials and environmentally friendly processing
The processed sawn timber is felled in sustainably managed forests in South Tyrol and neighboring Tyrol and is PEFC ™ certified. We use solvent-free and monomer-free lacquers to finish our skirting and profiles (around 130 km per day).
Digital printing allows us to reproduce surfaces that are 1:1 similar to real wood. Many trees are thus preserved in nature.
Energy from waste wood - our powerhouse
Our biomass cogeneration plant has been in operation since 2012 and all waste wood from production is converted into energy. In addition to 400 KW of electricity, heat is also generated and fed into the district heating network of the municipality of Latsch.
Our biomass cogeneration plant heats the entire hot water supply required in the summer months for the around 5,000 residents of our municipality. The heat output amounts to 2.5 MW.
Green electricity through our photovoltaic system
With around 3,000 m² of photovoltaic modules on our roofs, we generate electricity for our own use and the surplus is fed into the local power grid.
We are partners of the Climate Neutrality Alliance 2025
The Climate Neutrality Alliance 2025 is a voluntary network of companies that has set itself the goal of making an effective contribution to solving global climate problems. The measures to reduce and offset CO2 emissions go far beyond the legally prescribed reduction targets.
Our goal in the next few years is to turn a few screws to make effective adjustments to the production process in order to contribute towards the reduction of greenhouse gases and continuously shrink our corporate carbon footprint. Thanks to our own biomass power plant and our photovoltaic system, we have already been able to achieve a considerable reduction of our CO2 emissions. We also try to avoid long transport routes when taking delivery of raw materials. More information here (in german) >>>
WE HAVE IT IN HAND!
Step by step to economic climate neutrality.
A clear path to climate neutrality
The Climate Neutrality Alliance 2025 provides support to companies in the form of advice and practical assistance as they go through the five steps to implement the environmental goals.Once the company's carbon footprint has been determined, targets for energy and resource savings are assessed, defined and implemented. In a further step, unavoidable emissions are offset by supporting high-quality climate-protection projects.
The recognized calculation method of the Climate Neutrality Alliance 2025 is checked and validated annually by an external, accredited certification body in accordance with the ISO standard 14064-1 Greenhouse Gas Accounting and Verification.
